City Parks

Parkersburg has three city parks.

Depot Park is a historical site on the north end of town where Parkersburg's old train station still stands complete with an old time caboose from a passenger train.

Miracle Park, formally Swimming Pool Park, is located on the west side end of town near the cemetery, pool, and Veteran's Memorial Building.  The park is equipped with new playground equipment and three new shelter houses.  Miracle Park was renamed because there were no children in the park when the tornado on May 25, 2008 ripped straight through town, including the park.

Schwartz Memorial Park is a new park on the east end of town.  Located on Newell Avenue, the park has new playground equipment and a pond.

Beaver Creek Campground

Located next to the Beaver Meadows Golf Course along the Beaver, this camping facility has electrical hook-ups and a new restroom and shower facility.  This campground is convenient for fishers and avid golfers and is an all around relaxing place to enjoy a weekend or vacation.  Fees: $10 per night with electricity, $7 per night without electricity.

The Big Marsh

Six miles north of Parkersburg is Iowa's largest marsh area boasting of over 3,000 acres for public hunting, fishing, bird watching, and hiking.  The Big Marsh is a hunter's paradise during hunting season.
